Di Waktu itu, film yg di bawa plng ke rumah adalah seri SW Return of The Jedi...Dengan duduk tenang di sebelah bokap,dia blng ini film terOk saat ini...Click !!! Tombol play pun di tekan...HAH ?? apaan nih....t...

From the Movies
The Empire encompassed thousands of worlds, with countless climate and
terrain challenges. Their stormtrooper ranks reflected this through
specialized units trained and equipped to operate in specific
environments. The sandtrooper is a desert terrain stormtrooper
equipped with modified armor and gear to better withstand missions in
harsh, arid locales like Tatooine. While their armor is superficially
similar to that of the standard stormtrooper, advanced cooling systems
in both their helmets and suits offer these troopers protection from the
relentless heat. The stormtrooper detachment dispatched by Lord
Darth Vader to investigate a crashed escape pod on Tatooine just prior
to the Battle of Yavin consisted of sandtroopers. They had heavy
weapons, survival gear, and shoulder pauldrons denoting rank.
From the Expanded Universe
Sandtroopers are largely identical to standard stormtroopers except they
have additional training in specialized areas. Their armor consists of
an 18-piece anti-blaster cocoon shell with heat-reflective coating worn
over a temperature-control body glove. The sandtrooper helmet features
automatic polarized lenses, a built-in comlink and breathing filters.
Though a desert is, by technical definition, any area devoid of
significant moisture, these stormtroopers are specifically designed for
high temperature environments. As such, these soldiers have also been
dispatched to hot, wet, tropical terrain operations since their cooling
units and sealed water systems are easily modified to cope with such
areas. Instead of depending on machinery that may not function
in hostile environments, sandtroopers make use of local creatures for
transportation. The specific detachment dispatched to Tatooine
was the Desert Sands unit, led by senior officer DSS-0956. These elite
soldiers had training that emphasized independent thinking. All Desert
Sands stormtroopers carried heavy blaster rifles, long-range comlinks,
and food and water packs. Sandtroopers wear colored pauldrons as
a designation of rank. A stormtrooper sergeant's pauldron is white
while an enlisted stormtrooper's pauldron is all black. Squad leaders,
who lead units of seven troopers, wear orange shoulder pauldrons.
Behind the Scenes
Though many guides list this armor as specifically used by desert
stormtroopers, several sources depict the backpack and shoulder
pauldrons on high-ranking members of regular stormtrooper units.

Charter regarding Outposts:
"For areas that lie outside 501st Legion control
and do not have enough members to form a Garrison, an Outpost may be
formed.
An Outpost requires only one member and is headed by
an Outpost Leader (OL), who is elected every February by the members of
the Outpost. Applicants must complete an Outpost
Application Form in which they list their new Outpost name, roster of
members
from the main 501st roster, territorial boundaries,
and Outpost logo. Application for an Outpost must be submitted to the
Legion Council and voted on by at least one-third of
the Legion Council members in a simple-majority vote. If approved by
the Legion Council vote, the Outpost immediately
becomes official. Once an Outpost contains twenty-five members it may
apply
to be a recognized Garrison as outlined above and
may waive the one-year trial period at the discretion of the Legion
Council.
Member affiliation with this unit is mandatory based
upon geographical boundaries and the member's primary residence."
Legion Command requires complete information on the
proposal of a new Outpost in the club.
This is to ensure the new Outposts have all the
resources in place prior to going active as an independent Outpost.

possible. Please understand submissions must undergo review and a
possible
probation period set by Legion Command.
In addition to satisfying new unit membership prerequisites, a Web site

Mos Eisley Cantina

Looking at the exterior of the Mos Eisley Cantina, few would suspect the
bizarre and dangerous array of aliens seeking shade, business and
refreshment within. Upon first entering the establishment, a patron
steps into a darkened alcove. The period in which that patron's eyes
adjust from the blazing desert sunlight to the dank interior gives the
bar just enough time to check out the new arrival. A few steps down
into the main room, one finds a scattering of booths and free-standing
tables. An all-alien band plays a lively tune in the corner, and a gruff
bartender slings exotic concoctions from behind a rounded bar.
Most of the best freighter pilots visiting Tatooine can be found here.
Deals of all kinds are made in the shadows -- most of them dangerous and
nowhere near legal. Just about anything goes in this place, save for
two standing conditions: droids are not allowed inside, and if you've
got a dispute, leave blasters out of it. Prior to his departure
from Tatooine, Luke Skywalker got a first look at just what a life among
the stars could promise. The fresh-faced farmboy had never seen so many
aliens in one place, and the rough-and-tumble crowd could sense an easy
target. Two thugs tried to pick a fight with the youth, but Obi-Wan
Kenobi intervened, dispatching the brutes with a quick swing of his
lightsaber. It was here that Skywalker and Kenobi hired the
services of Han Solo and Chewbacca. The smuggling duo were responsible
for transporting the last of the Jedi Knights and the first of the new
off the desert planet and into a galaxy of adventure.
From the Expanded Universe
Located in the heart of the Old Quarter, the Mos Eisley Cantina is just
across the dusty street from the Dowager Queen wreckage. It was
one of the first structures built in Mos Eisley, originally intended as a
shelter and armory to protect against Tusken Raider attacks. When the
attacks never materialized, the blockhouse was converted into a bar, and
the cantina has changed hands many times. The bar currently belongs
to a Wookiee proprietor named Chalmun, who bought the building with
gambling profits swindled on Ord Mantell. Chalmun rarely exits his
backroom office, and hires a number of bartenders to dispense drinks.
The sour Wuher has the most shifts, but the favorite of the regulars is
the matronly Ackmena. Chalmun's disgust of droids led him to
install a droid detector in the front foyer. Its warbling alerts patrons
to the presence of mechanicals. Other than that, there are few rules
governing behavior in the cantina. While there are no gaming tables at
Chalmun's, there are always at least half-a-dozen games of chance being
played around the main room. Though Chalmun was hesitent to do
so, he eventually capitulated to employee and patron demands and added a
live band. He admits that the lively tunes of Figrin D'an and his Modal
Nodes have helped discourage violence in his bar. The central
bar is a high-tech, if outdated, set-up capable of synthesizing
virtually any known drink in the sector. The mixing computer knows
16,000 recipes, but of course, Chalmun does not keep all the required
ingredients in stock.
Behind the Scenes
A perennial fan favorite that showcases the diversity of lifeforms in
the Star Wars galaxy, the cantina sequence was fraught with
production delays that nearly made it an impossibility. The Make-Up
Supervisor, Stuart Freeborn, was overcome with illness and could not
finish the required masks in time. Furthermore, Director George Lucas
could not get the needed funding to hire additional creature craftsmen.
The end result is that the main unit photography of the cantina scene
was left with limited slip-on creature masks and humans with weird
make-up. Lucas was able to get additional funding for some re-shoots
of the cantina sequence, which were shot in California. These included
individual booth scenes and inserts with creatures crafted by Rick Baker
and other talented make-up artists. Even the famous cantina band was a
last-minute addition to the sequence.
Jedi Temple

Removed from the surrounding bustle and urban sprawl by benefit of its
colossal height, the Jedi Temple was the home of the Jedi order on
Coruscant. It stood alone in its section of the planet-wide city, a
towering edifice capped by a crown of five spires that housed the most
important temple chambers. Within one of the outer spires convened
the Jedi High Council, the governing body of the order. From its
circular Council chamber, a ring of 12 Jedi Masters held court,
monitoring galactic events and contemplating the nature of the Force. It
was the Council that held final authority on Jedi missions on behalf of
the Republic, and on whether prospective candidates were worthy of
training. Elsewhere in the temple, training facilities were
staffed by revered Jedi Masters, who guided young Padawans in their
first steps toward Jedi Knighthood. The most influential of Masters had
private offices to plan and meditate. A well-stocked library contained
knowledge from across the galaxy. Advanced communications networks kept
the Jedi in touch with galactic events, and landing pads allowed Jedi
transports and vessels to launch and land. In its final years,
the Council was led by senior Jedi Mace Windu and Yoda, two very
powerful Jedi Masters. At the time of Palpatine's ascendancy to Supreme
Chancellor, the Council contained such Jedi luminaries as Ki-Adi-Mundi,
Depa Billaba, Eeth Koth, Even Piell, Saesee Tiin, Yarael Poof, Oppo
Rancisis, Plo Koon, Yaddle, and Adi Gallia. When the galaxy was
pushed beyond the brink of conflict and into full scale civil war, the
Jedi became the reluctant leaders of the Republic military. During the
Clone Wars, the Jedi Temple came to house military-style briefing
chambers and war rooms -- spaces unneeded in the preceding millennia of
relative peace. It was a time of tumultuous change, and not even the
gleaming corridors of the Jedi Temple were spared.
With the rise of Emperor Palpatine, in truth a secret Sith Lord scheming
to overtake the galaxy, the Jedi were branded enemies of the state.
Palpatine's new apprentice, Darth Vader, stormed the Jedi Temple with
his elite clone trooper special forces in tow. They cut down the Jedi
ranks within the temple, not even sparing the younglings who cowered in
the empty Jedi Council chamber during the onslaught.Smoke
billowed from the burning Jedi Temple. Palpatine arranged for an
emergency transmission to emit from the temple's powerful beacon -- it
announced that the war was over, and that all Jedi return to Coruscant.
Seeing through this trap, Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda
infiltrated the temple and modified the transmission, warning the Jedi
to stay away.
From the Expanded Universe
The Jedi Temple stood for over 4,000 years, first erected as the Jedi
transferred their headquarters from Ossus to Coruscant. A long, broad
promenade led the way from the crowded surroundings to the Jedi Temple,
to a ceremonial staircase crowned with the statues of two Warrior
Masters and two Sage Masters. This in turn led to the more formal
entrance, where massive block-like pylons stood adorned with sculptures
of the Four Masters that founded the temple.The ziggurat base and its
crowning spires were an ancient design, constructed to symbolize a
Padawan's ascent to enlightenment. The kilometer-high structure was an
anachronistic sight to behold compared to the modern skyscrapers of the
megalopolitan planet. At the heart of the temple sits the peak of the
original sacred spire where the first Jedi Temple was constructed. The
center-most of the five spires was the most sacred section of the
building. Inside were housed the original manuscripts of the founding
Jedi. The other four spires contained important council chambers
dedicated to governing the order. Aside from the Jedi High Council,
there was the Council of First Knowledge, the Council of Reconciliation,
and the Reassignment Council. Other chambers within the Jedi
Temple included the Room of a Thousand Fountains, which featured a huge
greenhouse, flowing waters and cascades. The temple also included
lightsaber training areas and an area that provided views of giant
holographic star maps. When the Empire came to power, the Jedi
Temple was scoured of its inhabitants; the Jedi were routed and
exterminated by Darth Vader and his ruthless 501st legion of clone
troopers. Once the Temple was pacified, Palpatine raided its vast
archives, stealing away with a horde of precious Jedi lore which he
stored in secret repositories on such worlds as Wayland and Byss. The
Jedi Temple still stood during his regime, but it was an empty husk of
its former glory and a stark reminder of the consequences of rebellion
against the Empire.With the great upheavals that would strike
Coruscant throughout the Galactic Civil War, the Jedi Temple eventually
crumbled, but with the New Republic as stewards of the Galactic capital,
Luke Skywalker eventually came to erect a Jedi headquarters on the old
site of the Temple. The Yuuzhan Vong invasion that radically altered
Coruscant's cityscape would reveal the ancient foundations of the Temple
to sunlight for the first time in years. With the defeat and expulsion
of the Yuuzhan Vong, Luke Skywalker's Jedi order would construct a new
Jedi Temple on Coruscant, using the old temple as a template. During the
time of Darth Krayt's reign, decades later, this structure would become
the Temple of the Sith.
Behind the Scenes
George Lucas wanted the Jedi Temple to stand out in the metropolis of
the galactic capital world. He asked the Art Department to produce
sketches of a distinctive and unique building that would suggest the
special religious nature of the great structure.

Kashyyyk

Kashyyyk is a lush jungle planet where treetops serve as homes for the
native Wookiees, a towering fur-covered species known to be ferocious
warriors. The planet serves as a navigation gateway for the entire
southwest quadrant of the galaxy, making it of prime strategic
importance. During the Clone Wars, the Separatists attempted to
subjugate Kashyyyk by invading it with their droid armies.In
response, the Republic dispatched a task force led by Master Yoda to
defend Kashyyyk. With his war council that included the Wookiee warriors
Chewbacca and Tarfful, Yoda's forces were able to repulse the
mechanical intruders.The victory was short-lived. With the rise
of the Empire, the Jedi were branded enemies of the Republic. The
Imperial troopers took control of Kashyyyk, putting the planet under
martial law. Yoda barely escaped, fleeing the green world aboard a
secret escape pod.
From the Expanded Universe
This Mid Rim planet is the principal world of the Kashyyyk system, a
star system that also contains the homeworld of the reptilian
Trandoshans. The close proximity of these worlds and a deep-rooted
cultural animosity has fueled many altercations between the two
physically powerful species throughout their history. Kashyyyk hosts a
unique ecosystem of layered biodiversity. The planet has several
horizontal levels of ecology throughout the forests, with each lower
level increasing in hostile danger. The world's intelligent Wookiees
occupy the uppermost level, the forest canopy. Inland, some of the lower
levels have not seen sunlight in millennia, and are filled with deadly,
primitive lifeforms. Wookiee culture has divided the forests into seven
vertical levels. The mighty wroshyr trees are the most visible
form of life on Kashyyyk. Kilometers-tall, the trees have the notable
ability of fusing together if their growth paths intersect, forming a
stronger, conjoined tree. The limbs in the forest canopy are so thickly
intertwined that they form a natural cradle for Wookiee architecture.
Entire cities are perched in the wroshyr branches, housing millions of
Wookiees. Kashyyyk tree cities include the coastal city of Kachirho (in
the Wawaatt Archipelago), Rwookrrorro, Kepitenochan, Thikkiiana,
Okikuti, and Chenachochan.Though the Wookiees are the dominant
lifeform on the planet, they share their world with countless lesser
specimens. The foggy skies of Kashyyyk are pierced by the high-pitched
cries and colorful swirls of plumage of the avian kroyies. Prowling the
mighty boles are such predators as the horned katarn, and the
five-limbed kkekkrrg rro. Lurking in the shadows are such creepy terrors
as the arachnid webweaver and netcaster, the incendiary flame beetle,
and the loathsome gorryl slug. Of course, there are some helpful animals
too -- a wiry breed of bantha and the multi-legged sureggi can provide
sure-footed transportation in the treacherous undergrowth. During
the time of the Republic, the Wookiees were welcomed into the galactic
community through dealings with Corellians and Alderaanians. Eventually,
Kashyyyk was even represented in the Galactic Senate, with Senator
Yarua being the last Kashyyyk representative prior to the outbreak of
the Clone Wars. With the rise of the Empire came a terribly dark
time for the Wookiees. At the advice of unscrupulous Trandoshans, the
Empire blockaded Kashyyyk and enslaved the Wookiees, using their brute
strength for labor. So devoted were the Wookiees to their homeworld,
that many would brave the blockade to revisit their cherished forests
for key Wookiee holidays. After the Battle of Endor, the Wookiees
were finally afforded their freedoms. Casting off Imperial and
Trandoshan shackles, the mighty forest-dwellers were again visited by
the pall of slavery when would-be Nagai conquerors attempted to continue
the vile trade. The Nagai were eventually repulsed. Under the
guidance of Kerrithrarr, a Wookiee official, Kashyyyk entered the New
Republic, becoming a key signatory and member world of the Republic's
Inner Council. The planet welcomed trade and its city of Thikkiiana
became a major exporter of computer technology.
Behind the Scenes
The Wookiee homeworld was developed in the earliest draft scripts of Star
Wars, when it was first labeled "Yavin," and the primitive
"Wookees" were instrumental in the defeat of the Empire. Subsequent
iterations of the story changed Yavin to the otherwise uninhabited
jungle world that housed the Rebel base, and the legion of Wookiee
warriors became one faithful co-pilot, Chewbacca. Nonetheless,
Kashyyyk appeared in the early days of Expanded Universe publishing, in a
children's book (The Wookiee Storybook) and the weekly newspaper
strips penned by Russ Manning. The jungle planet even came to the small
screen, bearing the odd name "Kazzook" in the 1978 television broadcast
of "The Star Wars Holiday Special." At the completion of
the Star Wars saga, it finally came time to realize Kashyyyk on
the silver screen. George Lucas set a brief sequence of Episode III on
the Wookiee homeworld, allowing him to at last realize one of his first
concepts for Star Wars. The Kashyyyk environment is a
combination of filmmaking techniques to create a unique world. The
concept art of Wookiee architecture described them as the "Frank Lloyd
Wrights of the galaxy." Their mastery of woodwork resulted in
elaborately organic and ornate designs carved directly from the enormous
trees that serve as their homes.The exotic terrain of freshwater
lagoons and tree-covered mountains were photographed practically as
background plates gathered in China and Thailand. These were combined
and enhanced in a series of digital matte paintings.The Wookiee
tree cities were enormous miniatures capped with a digital canopy and
synthetic denizens. The beachfront was also a miniature, populated by
practical Wookiees photographed against bluescreen. Digital Wookiees
helped fill out the scenes and were used for stuntwork too complicated
for the bluescreen performers.

Yoda's Hut

Located near a lagoon and a fearsome looking twisted tree in the swamps
of Dagobah is a simple mud hut that housed the last known Jedi Master of
old in the galaxy. It is a far cry from the towering spires of the Jedi
Temple, but when the Jedi were slaughtered during the turbulent
political changes that wracked the galaxy, such austerity is
understandable.Inside the hut, Yoda lived a simple existence. He had
no items of technology, and instead relied on the wildnerness of Dagobah
to provide him his needs. He would cook on an open fire, preparing
meals from the surrounding plants, such as his rootleaf stew.
Growing near the hut is a twisted tree strong in the dark side of the
Force. It is a domain of evil, though how it came to be this way is
unknown. Beneath the tree's gnarled root system is a mysterious cave.
When Jedi initiate Luke Skywalker entered the cave as part of his
training, he experienced a chillingly surreal image. In the dank
cavern, an image of Darth Vader appeared before Luke, brandishing a
lightsaber. The two dueled, their motions slow and dream-like. Skywalker
succeeded in beheading the dark form. When the severed head landed at
his feet, he saw its faceplate suddenly explode. There, behind the metal
mask, was Luke's face. The terrifying image of Luke's possible future
marked one of several failures during his training on Dagobah.

Years ago, during the Bpfasshi Dark Jedi insurrection, one of the fallen
had escaped to Dagobah by commandeering a vessel piloted by smuggler
Jorj Car'das. The Jedi Master Yoda tracked down the fugitive Jedi, and
the two battled on the swamp planet. Yoda was victorious, and the dead
Dark Jedi's hateful energies were absorbed into his surroundings.A
nearby tree which grew over a cave became a nexus, a concentration of
the dark side. This domain of evil became a deciding factor in Yoda's
choice of Dagobah as his refuge during the Empire's ascent. The dark
energy of the tree, when viewed from a distance, cancelled out the light
energy of Yoda, thus keeping him hidden for decades. Dark side
nexuses are a rare but not entirely unheard of occurrence. On the murky
planet of Trinta, the insane Jedi Halagad Ventor's dark side spirit
similarly corrupted a swampy cave. Ancient Sith worlds such as Korriban,
Ruusan and Yavin 4 are said to contain similar concentrations.Once
within a dark side nexus, hallucinatory images are common. Luke
Skywalker experienced a vision of a possible future when he entered the
tree during his Jedi training. Years later, when he returned to Dagobah
after the Empire's fall, he saw an alternate past. A vision of the sail
barge battle over the Great Pit of Carkoon revealed to him that a
Force-sensitive agent was present at that event. He would later learn
that it was Mara Jade.
Behind the Scenes
Like Obi-Wan Kenobi's simple hovel on Tatooine, Yoda's hut was meant to
underscore a Jedi's minimalist outlook. Yoda and Ben both seem to have
eschewed material possessions and the clutter found elsewhere in the
galaxy. Initial sketches of Yoda's hut had it appear more rounded and
mosque-like -- sort of like a church of the swamps, complete with
stained glass or gem windows. Before construction began on the hut,
small clay models were fashioned to figure out lighting and camera
angles in the cramped quarters. Also, the actions of the characters in
the hut -- Luke and Yoda -- needed to be blocked out in advance so that
it could be determined how much mobility Frank Oz and his puppeteering
assistants required.

Jedi Archives

The Jedi Temple Archives contained possibly the single largest source of
information in the galaxy. Within the polished architecture of the
Temple, incredible amounts of data were stored electronically and
holographically. Jedi scholars and investigators used the carefully
organized data to aid in their studies or their missions. Lining the
main hall were bronze busts of some of the most revered and accomplished
Jedi Masters, both living and dead. When Obi-Wan Kenobi was seeking
out information about the planet Kamino, he turned to the Jedi
Archives. Echoing a similar experience he had with the analysis droids
in the Jedi Temple, the Archives were of disturbingly little help. They
contained no record of the planet Kamino. The caretaker of the records,
Madame Jocasta Nu, proclaimed the Archives complete and secure, and
instead faulted Kenobi for chasing a phantom planet. Further
investigation proved to Obi-Wan that the planet did indeed exist. Sensor
data of the surrounding space showed the gravitational influence of the
system, even though the system itself was missing. It was evident that
the Archives were tampered with, something that could only have been
accomplished by a Jedi.
From the Expanded Universe
Much of the Jedi Archives were once kept on the planet Ossus, an ancient
world that some believe to be the birthplace of the revered order. Many
of the most sacred and ancient texts were whisked away prior to Ossus'
devastation by an explosive shockwave unleashed by the terrible Sith
War. The Main Hall of the Jedi Archives was the largest single
chamber of the Jedi Temple, and is nearly 2,500 years old. Most of the
information stored within was in holobook format, an ancient
self-contained technology requiring only small amounts of energy.
So complete were the Archives that even forbidden lore was stored
within its chambers. The Archives contains the only known Sith
Holocrons, information repositories of dark knowledge whose existence
was revealed to only a few select Jedi Masters.
Behind the Scenes
The stately architecture and vaulted ceilings of the Jedi Archives Room
were inspired by a variety of real-world libraries, including the
Vatican and those found in old English estates. A bare minimum of the
set was constructed -- only Kenobi's immediate work area and several
busts were constructed. The majority of the scenery -- the rows and rows
of holobooks and high ceilings -- were realized as miniatures.

Tatooine

The Old Republic and the Empire that supplanted it paid very little
attention to the remote planet Tatooine. Ironically, beings that called
this dusty world home would be influential in bringing down both
galactic governments. Tatooine rests in the distant Outer Rim,
beyond the reaches of Republic and Imperial law. Even the Trade
Federation lacked a presence on the desert planet. Poor, with very
little industry to boast, Tatooine is a mixture of hard-working locals
attempting to extract a living from the unforgiving environment and
transients visiting the world for illegal ventures. Tatooine is
controlled by the Hutts, and their shady operations bring many spacers,
bounty hunters, thieves and other malcontents to the planet's few port
cities. Tatooine has a seemingly endless desert environment
cooked by the intense energy of twin yellow suns. Rocky mesas, canyons
and arroyos break up the monotony of kilometers of shifting dunes. The
days are hot and the nights are frigid. The air is dry and the soil is
parched. Yet life persists on Tatooine, in varied, hardy forms.
Indigenous sentient life includes the scavenging Jawas and the fearsome
Tusken Raiders. Creatures found roaming the desert include banthas,
rontos, dewbacks, scurriers, womp rats, krayt dragons and eopies.
Sporadic colonization attempts have resulted in scattered communities
separated by vast gulfs of wilderness. On the edge of the Dune Sea is
Mos Eisley, arguably Tatooine's busiest port during the time of the
Empire. Not too far away are Mos Espa, Anchorhead, and Bestine township.
If not involved in Hutt business, most colonists on the planet
eke out a meager existence as moisture farmers. Small homesteads employ
devices called moisture vaporators to tug what little water vapor is
suspended in Tatooine's air. This moisture is then used to irrigate
underground crops or is sold directly to interested parties. At a
young age, Anakin Skywalker was brought to Tatooine as a slave, and
toiled away in Mos Espa before being discovered by Jedi Master Qui-Gon
Jinn. A generation later, Anakin's son, Luke Skywalker, grew up on the
Lars homestead moisture farm. The two were destined for greatness far
beyond the desert planet.
From the Expanded Universe
Though the Arkanis sector is exceedingly remote, it is permeated by a
number of high-traffic hyperspace routes. Several of these join in a
point in space close to Tatooine. Thus, the planet -- which would
probably have gone unvisited otherwise -- became a busy stop-off point
for travelers heading elsewhere. Tatooine's silicate surface
reflects the light of its suns so intensely that legends tell of its
original explorers first mistaking the planet as a third, smaller sun.
Also in the system is a pair of uninhabited gas giants, Adriana and
Ohann. The first settlers of the planet -- called "oldsters" in
local folklore -- sought to turn a profit by exploiting the ore found
beneath the sands. The magnetic ore was soon discovered to have
undesirable metallurgic properties. The weary miners and investors
abandoned their failed mines and equipment, looking to distance
themselves from this Core-forsaken world. Not all could afford
to leave. Those that stayed behind turned to moisture farming and
trading to survive. When the Hutts came to Tatooine, so too did their
wealth and illicit business. Tatooine was given newfound life as a
trading post and backdrop for Hutt commerce. A combination of
magnetic ore desposits, twin stellar radiation, and prevailing wind
patterns has made one patch of Tatooine's surface more habitable than
neighboring areas. It is this zone -- where temperatures rarely exceed
43 degrees standard -- that is home to most of Tatooine's population
centers. The official capital of Tatooine is Bestine, located some 200
kilometers west of Mos Eisley. Other communities include Mos Espa,
Motesta, Wayfar, Anchorhead, Arnthout, Mos Taike and Mos Entha.

Tatooine was originally named Aquilae in the draft scripts of Star
Wars, before adopting a name very similar to the southern Tunisian
city of Tataouine. Being the most explored planet in the Star
Wars films, Tatooine required the greatest number of real-world
filming locations. In Africa, Djerba, Matmata, Tozeur, Medenine, Ksar
Hadada, the Chott El-Djerid, and La Grande Dune doubled as Tatooine
locales; in California, the production crew visited Death Valley, and in
Arizona, the sand dunes of Yuma.

Naboo

An idyllic world close to the border of the Outer Rim Territories, Naboo
is inhabited by peaceful humans known as the Naboo, and an indigenous
species of intelligent amphibians called the Gungans. Naboo's surface
consists of swampy lakes, rolling plains and green hills. Its
population centers are beautiful -- Naboo's river cities are respendlent
with classical architecture and greenery, while the underwater Gungan
settlements are a beautiful display of exotic hydrostatic bubble
technology. Naboo is a geologically unique world. It lacks a
molten core, indicative of an ancient world. The planet is a
conglomerate of large rocky bodies permeated by countless caves and
tunnel networks. This causes numerous swampy lakes on the surface, which
lead deeper into the planet's structure. The native Gungans have
developed transports that exploit these cave networks, but even these
hardy explorers pause at venturing too deep into the planet core, for it
is infested with gargantuan sea beasts with ravenous appetites.When
the senate enacted a measure that would increase taxation along
outlying trade routes, the credit-hungry Trade Federation protested by
blockading Naboo. A screen of huge warships surrounded the planet,
cutting off supplies to the Naboo. The world's leaders, Queen Amidala
and Governor Sio Bibble, were taken captive by the Trade Federation's
droid armies. Jedi Knights sent by Supreme Chancellor Valorum
freed Queen Amidala, and she then journeyed to Coruscant, to request the
senate's intervention in the blockade. Even Naboo's representative,
Senator Palpatine, could not get past the bureaucratic stalling tactics
of the Trade Federation. Disheartened with the senate's inability
to act, Queen Amidala took actions into her own hands. She returned to
Naboo and recruited the help of the Gungans. Together, Naboo's two
cultures were able to repel the Trade Federation invasion, and bring
peace back to the serene world.
From the Expanded Universe
The third of five planets orbiting a yellow star in the Chommell sector,
Naboo was first settled by human colonists from the planet Grizmallt
thousands of years ago.When these colonists and the native Gungans
first met, there was a profound failure to understand one another, and
tensions between the two cultures continued for thousands of years.
Despite the suffering caused by the Trade Federation invasion, the end
result brought about new prosperity for the planet as the Gungans and
the Naboo put aside their differences.In the interests of
preserving ecological stability, alleviating overcrowding in Otoh Gunga,
and fostering peace and goodwill, the Naboo and the Gungans launched an
ambitious joint venture to colonize Ohma-D'un, one of Naboo's three
moons. The grand experiment worked, creating a stable ecology on the
moon. Unfortunately, the colony was attacked by the Separatists with a
chemical weapon early in the Clone Wars. Many Gungan colonists died
exposed to an experimental toxin engineered to wipe out the Republic's
clone army. Naboo was spared from the worst of the Clone Wars,
and with the rise of the Empire, the placid planetoid tried to remain an
example of a more peaceful time before the collapse of the Republic.
The young monarch, Queen Apailana, quietly rebelled at the changes
enacted by the Empire. When she went too far, and was believed to be
harboring Jedi fugitives, the elite 501st Legion were dispatched to
Naboo to eliminate her and bring the planet back in line.
Behind the Scenes
In the revised rough draft of The Phantom Menace (which at the
time was just known as "The Beginning"), Naboo was called Utapau. This
name dates back to the earliest Star Wars drafts, when it was the
early name for Tatooine.

Mustafar

Located in the Outer Rim, the tiny planet of Mustafar is a fiery world
where lava is mined like a precious natural resource. Its bleak
landscape is a visual assault of jagged obsidian mountains with towering
fountains of fire and lava blasting from beneath the surface. This lava
also streaks the blasted landscape in huge winding rivers and plunging
cataracts. Mustafar's skies are obscured by choking black clouds of ash,
smoke and tephra. The intense geological activity creates natural
scanning interference that has kept prying eyes away from Mustafar for
most of its history. These inhospitable features made Mustafar an
ideal sanctuary for the ever mobile Separatist Council that led the
Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. After repeated
setbacks, General Grievous was ordered by Darth Sidious to secure the
Council on Mustafar, where they would await further instructions. An
enormous cliff-side industrial facility served as headquarters to the
commerce baron war chiefs. Neimoidian soldiers and battle droid infantry
provided security, while shimmering deflector shields protected the
structure from the volatile surroundings.Upon his ascendancy to
Galactic Emperor, Darth Sidious had no further need of the Separatists.
He dispatched his new apprentice, Darth Vader, to dispose of his wartime
collaborators on Mustafar. Upon arrival, Vader silently stalked into
the inner chambers of the mining facility. His lightsaber blade made
short work of the Separatists, cutting them down and effectively
bringing an end to the Clone Wars.Amongst this apocalyptic
landscape of erupting volcanoes, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi confronted
Darth Vader, his former apprentice. The two entered into a spectacular
lightsaber duel that worked its way through the Mustafar collection
complex. Through the course of their battle, the protective shields were
deactivated, and the facility was exposed to the planet's full
geological fury. A geyser of lava erupted, dropping molten rock
on one of the outrigger collection arms of the facility where Obi-Wan
and Vader dueled. The arm collapsed under the heat and strain, plunging
into the lava river. Before the severed collection arm succumbed to the
pull of a lavafall, Vader and Kenobi leapt from the doomed structure
onto a nearby worker droid and harvesting platform, respectively. Their
duel continued on these cooled repulsorlift surfaces before ending
abruptly on the black sand shores of the lava river.Kenobi bested
Vader, leaving the Dark Lord to die on the Mustafar river banks. Darth
Sidious sensed Vader's anguish, and arrived in time to rescue his fallen
apprentice. Maimed and mortally wounded by lightsaber and fire, Vader
was reconstructed as a cyborg and encased in a black protective life
supporting suit. Despite the hellish nature of its environment,
Mustafar has nonetheless produced native life capable of surviving in
the fiery extremes of the planet. The sentient Mustafarians -- of which
two notable subspecies exist -- paid little heed to the galactic events
that culminated on their world. They went about their business,
gathering precious minerals and energy from the lava streams, riding
their massive lava fleas across the stygian lands.

The young world of Mustafar is literally being torn in opposing
directions, caught in a gravimetric tug of war that keeps it from
becoming the moon of a nearby gas giant. Despite the close proximity of
massive Jestefad, Mustafar keeps to its erratic orbit, pulled by the
distant influence of another giant, Lefrani. The tidal strain heats up
Mustafar's molten core, resulting in spectacular geological activity
across the entire planet.`The Techno Union owns Mustafar, having laid
claim to the planet over 300 years ago. Scouts from that organization
discovered the unique and valuable mineral allotropes that permeated
Mustafar's crust and mantle. Though the Mustafar lava is hot -- a
searing 800 degrees standard -- it is cool enough to be harvested by
specialized equipment. Techno Union officials signed a treaty
with the provincial Mustafarian primitives, who benefited from the most
basic and inexpensive of offworld items. In exchange, they guided Techno
Union builders as they constructed massive harvesting facilities on the
planet to exploit the mineral riches flowing in the lava streams.The
Mustafar collection facilities employ tractor beam and electromagnetic
harvesting techniques to stir the valuable minerals within the lava
flow. Roiled to the surface, the deposits are then scooped up by worker
droids or rugged Mustafarians lifting heavy cauldrons by hand. Baskets
of molten rock and metal are then returned to the facilities where they
are processed and refined for distribution. Since lava-proof armor is
more costly than energy-based deflector shields, the collection facility
was sheathed in energy to protect it from the incredible temperatures.
After the destruction of the Separatist Council and the Imperialization
of the Techno Union, Mustafar was largely forgotten. A Separatist
stalwart, the fugitive Geonosian Gizor Dellso, holed up on Mustafar
during the early days of the Galactic Empire and re-established an
independent battle droid factory, requiring the attention of the loyal
501st legion of troopers to storm the hellish world.

The world of Mustafar has been a legendary component of Star Wars
lore for decades, even though nothing was known of the planet save for
the most basic descriptions of its environment. Early interviews
surrounding the release of Star WarsReturn
of the Jedi, there are brief descriptions of Vader being exposed to
molten lava. From these glimpses, the notion of a lightsaber duel
against a volcanic backdrop became part of the Star Wars mythos,
and fans longed to see the cinematic depiction of this epic
confrontation. attributed Vader's form to
injuries sustained in or near a volcano. In the novelization to During the development of Episode III, one of the first
new worlds to be explored through concept art was "Mufasta," the lava
planet. Not knowing the full details of the duel, the concept artists
sketched out a variety of concepts, including Obi-Wan and Anakin dueling
within an industrial cauldron, and a variety of horrible monsters
native to the lava planet.Mustafar was realized on screen through
a combination of a wide variety of techniques. During preproduction,
Mt. Etna in Italy erupted. George Lucas dispatched Producer Rick
McCallum and Cinematographer Ron Fricke to capture images of the
erupting lava. This footage became the basis of many lava elements in
the finished movie. Very little practical set was constructed for
Mustafar. Aside from the installation interiors, the majority of the
collection plant was filmed in isolated segments against bluescreen or
greenscreen. An incline of lava river bank was built practically, to
capture the last moments of Anakin and Obi-Wan together. Red-gelled
lighting and wind and smoke machines were used extensively on set to
capture the atmospheric interaction on the principal actors. Once
the film moved into postproduction, Mustafar came alive through the
efforts of artists at ILM. Simulation systems created digital lava that
would flow and burst realistically, particularly in the scene where a
spew of lava lands on the collection arm. The collection facility
environment itself was largely realized as a digital model. The
mountainous surroundings was made up of a massive miniature permeated
with actual moving rivers of stage lava. The stage lava was dyed
methylcyl, lit from beneath to simulate self-illumination. In a
cost-conscious effort, Practical Model Supervisor Brian Gernand had to
design the miniature environment so that the lava could be collected and
recycled after each shot.Further sweetening the growing Mustafar
composites were digital and practical smoke and cinder elements that
populated every exterior shot.
